This is eerie. Two days ago I was driving to visit a friend when I noticed the most amazing silhouette I have seen in a long time. I saw downtown Calgary silhouetted in sharp contrast to a stunning backdrop of blue sky and the pink clouds of sunset. The only problem was that I was travelling at 100 km. per hour on Deerfoot Trail with nowhere to pull over. I stole another glance to sear the image into my brain. Unfortunately I haven’t discovered a system for downloading that image to WordPress! Time to start searching my “real” images. I absolutely love any excuse to go through photos from my Turkish travels.

Antalya sunsetI am truly sorry I missed that shot of the Calgary Tower and all our elegant office buildings, but safety first – even where photos are concerned. Hope you’ve enjoyed a few of my Turkish silhouettes.

    1. I’ve travelled in Turkey on 3 different trips, twice in the western part and once in the east. Main areas visited include Istanbul, Konya, Antalya, Izmir, Ephesus, Gaziantep, Adiyaman, Mount Nemrut, Harran, Van, Kars, Trabzon and points between. I find the whole country fascinating and fabulous. Istanbul is a city with so much to see – truly one of my favorite places in the world. If you ever have a chance to visit – go!

  1. Great Turkish images Terri. I love that I can place the silhouettes. Our brains are amazing at storing that kind of detail. Less than 48 hours in Istanbul left before I am back to the Rocky Mountains silhouetted in the distance. See you soon.

  2. I like your pictures, they convey so much meaning and beauty. Too bad you couldn’t capture the image while you were driving. I would have loved to see it. What you have posted is amazing.
All the best to you Terri.

  3. These are all beautiful, but I know what you mean about missing “THE” shot. I saw a beautiful sunset over the river when we were traveling one day, and didn’t have my camera. It’s rare now that I leave home without it – mostly because of that one sunset!
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I love all the architectural elements in these photos – so stylized!

As for “taking photos with our brains,” sometimes that is the best way. I don’t want to see everything in my life through the camera lens…
