I’m afraid this challenge presented a bit of a…. well, challenge, for me. Off the top of my head I couldn’t think of what would show surprise, so I just started scrolling through my photo library. Here’s what I found:
I was surprised to see beautiful display windows on the second floor of buildings in one area of Istanbul. In fact, some stores had display windows on three floors. I was also surprised to find that these most impressive displays of wedding and evening gowns were in an area that specialized in wedding and evening gowns. I have never seen so many gowns! The high level displays work well on the wide streets, as you need some distance to see up high.
These photos show what I thought was a hotel bar fridge. You can imagine my surprise to read that this was in fact not a fridge. The sign reads, “This is not a fridge. Please do not place personal or sold items back into the Minibar. All such items will be removed.” Who comes up with these ideas, the minibar police?
The last two photos were taken in Brookfield Place in Toronto, Ontario. The ultra modern, soaring design of the space is beautiful, and the incorporation of a historic building front is a lovely surprise. I hope you like my choice of photos, because I was all out of jack in the box photos. But wouldn’t it have been a surprise if I had some?
Fascinating! 🙂

Tell me about it. The first thing I usually do is pull out all the hotel junk and put my water and fruit in, and then swap it back when I’m ready to leave. This fridge automatically charged your room if you even lifted something out of place. Talk about trusting!

I used to live and work in Toronto – but this is definitely a new addition since then.

I love this kind of mix. What do you think about it?

It does look interesting – doesn’t always work, enclosing facades of current buildings into a mall idea – tried it in Thunder Bay, (where I also used to live and work) and it didn’t work that well. But it definitely looks intereting.
