The cat and the fiddle. The cow jumped over the moon. This rhyme has been around a long time, and it’s always been a favorite of mine. I made this mobile from a kit over 30 years ago and I remember how much I enjoyed stitching each character. I think the design is timeless. This mobile hung over my daughter Devon’s crib for a couple of years. She is now 31. You might be wondering why I’m posting this, but let me explain. Over the years, several of the mobile pieces were pulled off and carefully put away – not always in the same place. It took a few years for all the pieces to find each other. Then I never found the time to stitch them back together. This mobile has been in pieces in a bag for approximately 25 years. I was cleaning my studio when I came across the bag. It was now or never – time to repair. (Someone asked me why I still had this, but I don’t like throwing things out, especially hand crafted things.) So, the next time Devon is home for a visit, I’m going to give her this mobile. After all, I did stitch it for her.
