Maybe that’s just my opinion, but I think you’ll agree. Frida Kahlo was an absolutely amazing artist. She was a prolific Mexican painter perhaps best known for her self portraits. Here’s a quote from Wikipedia: “Kahlo had a volatile marriage with the famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera. She suffered lifelong health problems, many of which derived from a traffic accident she experienced as a teenager. These issues are represented in her works, many of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo suggested, “I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best.”

cards on rack to dry

I purchased these Frida image cards and it took me some time to decide what I could do to them. I like the irony of the word “happy” printed on her portraits. I don’t think she would mind though I don’t really know if she had much of a sense of humor. Here are the cards:

Before I forget, I wanted to show you my new card rack. I picked this up at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago – very exciting. It was kind of rusty but I could see the potential, and it was only $10. Of course it cost me $14 for spray paint (one can wouldn’t do the job) and $8 for new rubber feet. Since it is a 5 legged stand, I now have 3 extras if anyone is interested!

  1. I took a double look when I saw the name Frida! I was in Mexico City for 8 days photographing my brother and sister-in-laws 2nd wedding (her family is there) and we went to the Frida museum! Didn’t know a thing about her, but when I got home I got a movie on her life from Netflix!
